Hot take: my aunt's "buy chicken thighs not breasts" tip saved my grocery budget, but her rice advice was a disaster
Back in January my aunt Carol in Toledo told me to stop buying chicken breasts and grab thighs instead, and she was right, my protein cost fell from about $4 a pound to $1.80 and nobody in my house even noticed the switch in stir fry. But then she said to skip the bagged rice and buy the 25 pound sack at the Asian market to save money, and half of it got bugs in my pantry within 6 weeks because I had nowhere airtight to store it. So now I'm stuck wondering if her cheap rice idea was bad or if I just did it wrong. Do you all buy bulk rice and if so how are you keeping it from going bad, because I want the savings without the bug problem.
