I tried the viral "dump and go" freezer meal method for 2 weeks straight
Everyone raves about prepping 8 freezer bags of chicken and veggies on Sunday. I did that with 4 bags back in January using a recipe from a popular blog. By day 5 the texture was SO mushy and watery that I couldn't finish the last two bags. Has anyone else had this problem with frozen chicken releasing too much liquid? I'm wondering if I should sear the meat first next time.

and honestly I think the searing thing is the only real fix. I had the exact same mushy mess with frozen chicken breasts, it was like eating wet paper towels. Searing each piece for a couple minutes before bagging makes a huge difference. It locks in the juices and keeps the texture way better after thawing and cooking. Also try patting the raw chicken dry with paper towels before you sear it, that cuts down on extra liquid too. Another thing is to skip adding watery veggies like zucchini or tomatoes until you're ready to cook, just toss them in fresh when you dump the bag.

Tbh I think searing kinda dries it out more if you're not careful, @wells.karen.
