My grandmother in Tucson always saved her bean liquid for soup. She called it pot liquor and said it held all the flavor. I watched her make a simple vegetable soup with it, just some onions and carrots. It tasted richer than any broth from a box.

Oh man, that's the good stuff right there. My grandma from Alabama would have a fit if she saw someone pour it out, she used it to cook her greens in. It adds this crazy deep, savory flavor to stuff, like a free flavor boost. I started saving mine a few years back and it makes the simplest pot of beans taste way better.
