Instant pot beans vs. slow cooker, my cheap meal experiment went sideways

I cooked the same pintos both ways last Sunday, the pressure cooker gave me mushy bricks while the crockpot kept them perfect, so is the time savings really worth the texture trade-off or am I doing it wrong?

Have you tried adjusting the cook time at all? Because honestly, that's probably your whole problem right there. The instant pot is way more sensitive than a crockpot, so if you're using slow cooker recipes thinking they'll translate, you're gonna get sad mush every time. You gotta cut the liquid way back and shave off like ten minutes, then let the pressure release natural for at least fifteen before you even touch the valve. The texture thing is real, but it's on you to learn the machine instead of blaming it. Plus, beans in twenty five minutes beats babysitting a crockpot for eight hours when you work late... I'll take a slightly softer bean over having to plan my whole day around dinner.
