Just realized my local Asian market has bulk rice for way cheaper than the grocery store
I was at H Mart last week grabbing some gochujang and noticed they have 25lb bags of jasmine rice for $18. That's like 72 cents a pound. My regular Stop & Shop wants $2.50 for a 2lb bag. I did the math and if I buy two of those big bags it'll last my family about 3 months. Has anyone else found a hidden bulk section that saves them a ton?

Started buying my rice in bulk from the local Asian market last year and honestly wish I did it sooner. I got a 25lb bag of basmati for like $20 and it takes me months to go through it. The texture is way better than the stuff in cardboard boxes at the regular store too. Just make sure you have a big container or a cool spot to store it so it stays good.

Oh man that reminds me, my friend Jenny got a 25lb bag of jasmine rice from H Mart last year and she thought she was set for months. Well she just kept it in the bag in her pantry and didn't think about bugs. A few weeks later she opened it up and there were little weevils crawling around in there. She was so grossed out she threw the whole thing away and now she only buys those small 5lb bags from the regular store again. She definitely learned her lesson about storage the hard way.
