My brother insisted I buy a $25 rice cooker to save money, and I finally caved after six months.
He said it would cut my electric bill and make meal prep easier. I was sure it was just another gadget that would collect dust. But honestly? I was wrong. I use it at least four times a week now for rice, steamed veggies, and even hard-boiled eggs. My power bill did go down a bit compared to using the stove, and a 20lb bag of rice is so cheap. Has anyone else had a kitchen tool they resisted that actually became a budget staple?

Was it an Instant Pot for you too? My sister would NOT shut up about hers and I thought it was just a dumb overpriced pot. I finally got one on a crazy sale and it changed everything. I make beans from dry now, which saves a ton, and it cooks a whole chicken in like 25 minutes. I use it for stuff I never thought I would, like yogurt. It sits on my counter full time because I use it that much.

Mine just takes up counter space, honestly.
