My sister's comment on my grocery haul made me stop and think
I was showing her my cart full of pre-cut veggies and single-serve packs, proud I'd kept it under $60. She just looked at it and said, 'You're paying for someone else's time, not food.' I bought a whole head of cabbage and a bag of carrots for under $3 the next day. Has anyone else had a moment that made you see your shopping habits differently?

Isn't it more about paying for your own time too? Pre-cut stuff saves a ton of effort after a long day. It's not always a bad trade-off.

But that time you're saving is just turning you into a customer for EVERY little task. It's a slippery slope. Soon you're paying a huge markup for someone to open a bag of salad because you're too tired to use a knife. That's not buying time, that's giving up a basic skill for convenience. The whole point feels lost when you're not even really cooking anymore.

Wait, opening a bag of salad with a knife? That's a wild example. Dakota_burns83 has a point about saving effort, but that's just paying to not use your hands.
