Noticing how oatmeal for dinner is making a comeback for health and savings

Lately, I see more folks turning to plain oatmeal with cheap add-ins like frozen fruit or a spoon of peanut butter for a filling dinner. It costs pennies per serving and helps cut down on grocery bills while keeping meals simple. My own family has been doing this twice a week, and it's helped our budget and made weeknight cooking less stressful. Have you tried any similar cheap tweaks to your evening meals?

Oatmeal's great, but it's been a dinner option for ages in lots of places.

Okay, but saying it's been a dinner option for ages feels like a stretch. In most places I've lived, oatmeal is strictly breakfast or maybe a snack. It's not hearty enough for a main evening meal. People want something more filling after a long day. Calling it a dinner staple just doesn't match up with how most folks eat today.

Oatmeal always makes me think of rainy mornings as a kid... we'd have it for breakfast with brown sugar.
