That $3 bag of dry beans taught me a lesson about prep
Grabbed a cheap bag of pinto beans at the WinCo last week. Soaked em overnight, rinsed, then simmered for 2 hours. They still came out crunchy and bland. Turns out you gotta add salt at the very end or it toughens the skins. Now I'm wondering, has anyone figured out a foolproof way to season beans without ruining the texture?

Dude that whole 'bigger lesson about life' thing is so real haha. My own bean fiasco was almost identical except I didn't even soak them long enough the first time. I was so mad staring at a pot of crunchy beans thinking I'd wasted the whole afternoon. Honestly prepping beans is like some secret society test where you gotta fail a few times before you pass. Makes you appreciate all those times you just grabbed a can off the shelf at the store.

Crunchy beans are the ultimate test of patience, and I failed that test hard the first three times I tried. Now I just accept that every bean adventure will involve at least one stage of quiet desperation.

Is it just me, or does every cheap fix end up teaching you a bigger lesson about life?
