That $50 grocery run last month taught me to actually use my freezer

Honestly I used to just let frozen stuff sit in there for months and then toss it. Last month I planned out 3 meals from a single $50 trip to Aldi in Chicago and froze half the veggies and meat. Ngl it saved me from ordering takeout like 4 times that week. Has anyone else figured out a solid freezer rotation method?

My freezer situation is more of a black hole than a rotation system. I found a bag of frozen peas from like 2019 last week and had to give them a proper burial in the trash can. The worst part is I'll probably still buy another bag next time I'm at the store because I have zero self control. At least when you buy fresh stuff you have to eat it before it turns into science experiments in the crisper drawer. Maybe I need to put a label maker to good use before my freezer becomes a time capsule of failed meal prep.

Yeah man I started doing the same thing and now I barely waste any food, it's a game changer for sure.

Meal planning is the real secret to cutting down on food waste. Once you sit down for ten minutes on a Sunday and map out what you're actually going to eat, it changes everything. You stop buying random stuff that just sits in the fridge until it goes bad. I've been doing it for about six months now and my grocery bill dropped by almost a third. Way less guilt about throwing money in the trash too.
