Unpopular opinion: buying store brand spices is actually better than name brand
I saw a post yesterday where someone said store brand spices have no flavor and you have to buy McCormick. That is just wrong. I have been cooking on a $60 a week grocery budget for 3 years now and switching to store brands saved me about $12 per month. Last month I made a chili with Great Value cumin and chili powder, and my neighbor asked me for the recipe because it tasted so good. Has anyone else noticed that the store brands are fresher because they sell through stock faster?

That Great Value cumin saved me $2 and I didn't even burn my chili this time, which is a win in my book. Store brands are legit.

@the_anthony you didn't burn it this time but cumin doesn't burn that easy anyway.
