Vent: I keep seeing people throw away their leftover rice after one night

I mean, I get being careful with food safety, but a sealed container in the fridge keeps cooked rice fine for like 4 days. My roommate in college would toss a whole pot after dinner, which felt like throwing a dollar in the trash. What do you guys do to use up older rice before it goes bad?

Honestly though, that leftover rice can get sketchy fast. I've gotten sick from it before, so I don't mess around anymore. Tossing it feels wasteful, but it's better than food poisoning.

Yeah, that fried rice trick is a classic. It feels like we've lost a lot of those simple "use it up" habits. I see the same thing with bread heels or slightly soft veggies that are still totally fine for soup.

My grandma's fried rice recipe uses three-day-old rice perfectly.
