Vent: my bulk rice purchase turned into a pantry moth nightmare

A month ago I grabbed a 20 pound bag of jasmine rice on sale for $12 and stored it in the garage, but last week I opened the bag and found a live moth crawling out, then spotted three more fluttering around my kitchen - has anyone else dealt with pantry moths from bulk grains?

The_susan nailed it. Took her three months to fix that mess. How long did it actually take before you stopped finding those little bugs in random places? I found one in my tea bag box once. That's the worst part, they get everywhere. Freeze your rice for 48 hours next time. Kills the eggs before they hatch. Just a tip from someone who learned the hard way.

oh god, i feel this so hard. i had the exact same thing happen with a 25lb bag of brown rice i got from a bulk store. i thought i was being smart stocking up, but then i opened it and there were these tiny little moths and they were everywhere in my cabinets. it took me like three months to get rid of them, throwing out all my flour and pasta and cereal. i swear i'm still paranoid every time i open a bag of anything grainy. you have my total sympathy on this one.
