Was dead set against buying store brand pasta sauce until a neighbor proved me wrong
I always grabbed the name brand Prego or Rao's because I figured cheaper had to taste worse. Then my neighbor Judy brought over a lasagna she made with the $1.29 Great Value tomato basil sauce from Walmart. She didn't say a word about it until I finished my second helping and asked for the recipe. Honestly couldn't tell the difference and now I save about $3 per jar which adds up quick when you cook pasta twice a week. Anybody else got store brand swaps that actually beat the expensive stuff?

My buddy swore by the expensive Rao's until his wife bought Great Value and he actually liked it better.

Doesn't that happen all the time though? You get used to thinking expensive stuff is better just because it costs more, but half the time your brain's just tricking you. I've seen it with olive oil, ketchup, even trash bags. People swear by the name brand until someone slips them the store version and they can't tell the difference. It's like we're all just paying for the label and the fancy jar, not what's actually inside. The funny thing is, once you realize it, you start questioning a bunch of other stuff you've been overpaying for.
