Can we talk about how rental car companies hide their real fees?

I was booking a car for a trip to Nashville next month and found a deal for $28 a day. But after I added insurance and the "concession fee" the total shot up to $68 a day. That hidden airport surcharge caught me off guard, it was like $12 alone. How do you guys find the actual price before you get to the checkout page?

Honestly, seems like you're overthinking it, just pick the cheapest option.

Flip that around and look at it from the business side. Those fees cover the airport's rental car center costs and the insurance is basically required unless you can prove your own policy covers rentals. They're not hiding much, you just gotta check the total before you hit pay.

Yup, always expand that estimated total before booking, too many people skip that step.
