Everybody preaches booking 6 months ahead for cheap flights, but I saved $200 by waiting until 3 weeks before my trip to Denver
People kept telling me to book early or I'd get wrecked on prices. I had a work trip to Denver pop up last minute and figured it was worth a shot since I had nothing to lose. Checked Kayak on a Tuesday for flights leaving 21 days out and found a round trip for $180. My buddy who booked the same route 4 months ago paid $380. I get that it's risky during peak seasons, but for flexible travel this totally flipped my thinking. Has anyone else had better luck with last minute deals than the early bird hype suggests?

Funny you mention that cause it reminds me of this time I was at a flea market and saw a guy selling a box of old VHS tapes for like five bucks. He had no idea there was a sealed copy of some rare horror movie in there, something about a killer clown from the 80s. The lady buying it just casually pulled it out and the seller's face went totally white. He tried to buy it back for double but she was already walking away laughing. People really don't know what they've got sometimes, makes you wonder what's hiding in your own junk drawer.
