Friend told me to book flights on Tuesdays, tested it for 3 months

My buddy Dave swore flights are always cheapest on Tuesday afternoons. I tracked prices for 6 different routes over 3 months, including a trip to Austin. Turns out Tuesday was cheaper maybe 40% of the time, but Wednesday morning actually beat it on 3 of those routes. Anyone else find a specific day that consistently works better for domestic flights?

I mean... people get way too wrapped up in this stuff honestly. You tested it for 3 months and found Tuesday only worked 40% of the time. That's barely better than random chance. I used to schedule all my flight shopping around Tuesday afternoons because some blog said so and ended up missing a decent deal on a Thursday night that saved me like 50 bucks more. Dave probably just got lucky once and now it's gospel to him. Unless you're booking something super specific like a holiday weekend the price swings are mostly luck anyway.

Did you check if those Wednesday deals were on specific airlines that tend to drop fares midweek? I've seen some flights drop on Wednesdays but only for budget carriers like Frontier or Spirit. Also were you looking at round trips or one ways because that might shift the patterns too. Really curious if the cheaper Wednesdays were on a particular route length or airport.
