I always thought hostels were the cheapest option until I tried house sitting
Last year in Lisbon, I compared a 12 euro per night hostel bunk with a house sitting gig I found on a site called TrustedHousesitters. The hostel added up with locker fees and eating out, but the house sit gave me a free private room, kitchen, and even a local's bike. After a week, I saved over 150 euros and had a much quieter, more local experience. Has anyone else found a non-hotel option that really beat your usual budget plan?

Totally! It feels like the real travel deals are always hidden behind a bit of extra effort.

Maybe the best deals are the ones you find after giving up on looking.

Used to hate searching but @mila_harris is right, the best finds come after you quit.
