I thought those 'secret flight deals' newsletters were all scams, but one just saved me $400
For years I ignored those sites promising cheap flight alerts, figuring they were just spam. Last month, a friend convinced me to sign up for Scott's Cheap Flights before planning a trip to Lisbon. I got an alert for a round-trip fare from Chicago for $380 when it was normally over $780. I booked it right away and the ticket was totally legit through the airline's own website. Now I check it every morning. Has anyone else found a specific newsletter or alert service that actually works for them?

But how many hours did you waste checking for that one deal?

My buddy saved over $500 on a Tokyo flight using Going last year. I just check the emails when they come in, takes maybe a minute a day.

Honestly, the biggest win for me is the mental load. Before I used alerts, I'd get stuck in this loop checking five different sites every day for weeks, which is way more draining than just opening one email. That constant searching feels like a part-time job you don't get paid for. Now I can just forget about it until the deal pops up, and that peace of mind is worth way more than just the cash saved.
