Just realized hostel loyalty cards are a total scam in Europe
I stayed at a Generator hostel in Barcelona for 6 nights thinking my points would stack up for a free bed somewhere else, but the fine print only lets you redeem in like 3 specific cities nobody visits. Has anyone actually used one of these things successfully?

Lost my punch card within three days, so that solved that problem for me.

Wait, did you actually read the terms before you booked? A buddy of mine got burned by that same Generator scheme last year. He stayed like 8 nights across two different cities thinking he was building up points for a free night in Prague. Ended up finding out the free bed was only valid at the one in some random German town nobody's heard of. He tried to argue with the front desk and they just pointed at the tiny print on the back of the card. Kind of sums up hostel loyalty cards honestly, they're just another way to pretend you're getting a deal.
