Looking back, I can't believe I ever paid for those airport lounge passes
I mean, I spent like $50 a pop for years thinking it was a smart move, but honestly the free wifi and outlets at the gate work just fine, and you can pack a better sandwich than they usually have anyway, so what's the point?

Totally agree with @jesse_williams62 about the crowds ruining it. The whole quiet escape thing is gone now. You're just paying to sit in a different crowded room. The free snacks aren't even that good most of the time. It turned from a special treat into a bad deal real fast.

Saw a whole thread about this on a travel blog last week. The general vibe was that lounges got way too crowded after all the credit card companies started giving out passes. Used to be a quiet spot, now it's just a louder waiting room with slightly better coffee. Honestly unless you're on a crazy long layover or your flight gets messed up, it's hard to justify the cost anymore. Feels like the whole point of them got ruined.

Yeah feels like the secret's out for good lol. @the_nathan is right, last time I went it was just a loud room with sad crackers. My cheap self still tries to get my money's worth in free soda though.
