My sister called my old packing method 'moving day for a trip' and she was right

For years, I'd just shove everything into a big duffel, which meant paying for checked bags every time. She watched me pack for a trip to Austin last fall and said, 'You're packing like you're moving, not traveling.' I switched to a single carry-on backpack and used packing cubes to organize it. It saved me $60 in bag fees round trip and was way easier to manage. Anyone else have a packing tip that saved them a bunch of cash?

Try rolling your clothes instead of folding them.

Packing cubes and a backpack are fine, but is saving sixty bucks on a trip really a life changing hack? It just seems like basic adult stuff to me. The real win is not having to wait at baggage claim. @the_eric had it right about checking a hamper, that's just throwing money away for pure laziness. People act like they discovered fire by rolling a t-shirt.

My old packing style was basically just throwing a bunch of laundry into a suitcase. I was basically paying the airline to check my hamper.
