Showerthought: I spent 3 years flying to the wrong airport in Bangkok

I always flew into Don Mueang because it was closer to my hostel. Then last trip a cab driver goes "you know the cheap bus to Chiang Mai leaves from Suvarnabhumi right?" Turns out that airport has way more budget carriers and free shuttle buses between terminals. I was paying extra for taxis and missing cheaper flights for like a dozen trips. Anyone else realize they were using the wrong hub for months?

Wow, that's wild honestly. I did something similar in Tokyo where I kept flying into Narita because it was cheaper, but all my hostels were near Haneda. Ended up spending like 5 hours on the train round trip before I realized there was a budget carrier that flew out of Haneda the whole time. Ngl, I felt pretty dumb when I finally checked the map properly.
