Spent 3 hours in a Lisbon hostel trying to save 2 euros on a laundry machine
I stood in the basement laundry room at my hostel in Lisbon for 3 hours trying to figure out how to run the washing machine without paying the 4 euro fee, because I was sure there was a free cycle trick. I googled the model number, watched two YouTube videos in Portuguese, and even asked the front desk guy who just shrugged and pointed at the coin slot. Turns out the machine only took a special token from the bar, and the bar was closed until 6pm, so I sat on my backpack in the hallway waiting. My budget hack ended up costing me an entire afternoon and a 4 euro token anyway, plus I missed the free walking tour. Has anyone else burned half a day trying to outsmart a hostel appliance for pennies?
