In the past, I chose overnight buses to avoid hotel fees. Now, I use flight apps to get cheap late-night tickets. What's your favorite way to keep overnight costs low?

Honestly I miss the overnight buses (weird, I know). Those flight deals can vanish fast and then you're stuck paying for a last-minute hotel anyway. At least the bus gets you there with a bed, even if it's a bumpy one.

What gets me is the forced disconnect. On a plane you're still checking emails till the last second, but a bus rollin' through the night puts you in this weird pocket where you can't do anything but be still. I remember just watching dark towns pass by, streetlights making patterns on the window. It's the closest thing to a real pause we get now, where your only job is to get there.
