Trying to save on lodging for a job training trip

My company sent me to a week-long training in another city, but the per diem is low. I heard about couch surfing or house sitting to cut hotel costs. Has anyone tried these options for work travel?

Totally been there! Check your company policy first, some don't allow alternative stays for insurance reasons. I've had good luck with house sitting sites for longer trips like that.

I mean, I get what @drew_bennett24 is saying, but company policies can be way too strict sometimes. You gotta find a way to save money on long trips.
