Drove 30 miles to a discount grocery store and left empty handed

Heard about this place in Muncie that sells dented cans and close-to-expire stuff for pennies. Spent $12 in gas to get there. Walked in and everything was still basically full price. Canned beans were $1.10 instead of $1.29. Not worth the trip. Anyone else find these budget stores are usually a letdown?

Oh man, I feel this. I drove like 45 minutes to one of those "salvage grocery" places outside Indianapolis last month because everyone raved about it. Walked in and a bag of off-brand tortilla chips was still $3.50. A dented can of soup? $1.80. Where's the discount? I could have just gone to Aldi and saved the gas. The only thing I found worth grabbing was some slightly squished bread for 50 cents, but that was it. Total letdown. Never again.

Honestly, your story sounds exactly like what happened to my buddy Mark a few months back. He drove an hour to one near Dayton after hearing all the hype, and he said the "deals" were basically just expired yogurt and a crushed box of crackers. @umar59, he told me he felt like he got punked by the internet, lol.
