Just realized my meal prep routine was costing me $80 extra each month
Before I switched to rice and beans cooked from dry bags instead of canned, my pantry staples were running me about $12 a week just for beans. I started soaking 2 pounds of pinto beans overnight and making them in my slow cooker on Sundays. Now that same amount costs me $3.50 and lasts me all week for lunches. Has anyone else found a simple swap that beat the canned stuff by that much?
Man, saving eight bucks a month doesn't really move the needle for me. Rice and beans from dry is cheaper, sure, but is that worth a whole Sunday of soaking and slow cooking?
