My credit union guy asked why I was saving $5 a day instead of $35 a week, and it broke my brain a little
He pointed out that five bucks a day adds up to $1,825 a year but weekly deposits feel smaller and I actually stick with them, so I switched to automatic Friday transfers and hit $900 saved by March for the first time in my life, has anyone else had a banker say something so simple it changed your whole system?
My bank teller Deb told me something similar back in 2019 when I kept bouncing checks between paychecks. She said pull $50 out in cash every Monday and stick it in an envelope, which sounds dumb but seeing the stack grow made me actually stop touching it. Ended up with $1,300 by Christmas that year, first time I ever had real savings.
