My fridge went out on a Friday night and I saved $300
The freezer stopped cooling last Friday around 8 PM. I panicked because a repair call on a weekend is super expensive. I unplugged it, cleaned the coils with my vacuum, and let it sit for an hour. Plugged it back in and it started humming again! Has anyone else fixed a big appliance with just a simple cleaning?

That vacuum trick is a temporary fix at best. My neighbor tried the same thing last year and his compressor died completely two days later. You probably just got lucky with a random overload reset. Most modern fridge issues are sealed system failures that require a pro.

Wait, @seth_harris36 thinks that's just luck? My uncle's fridge has run for three years after we did the exact same thing.
