My sister swore by a 'no-spend weekend' and I thought it sounded miserable
I ended up fixing my bike, reading three library books, and saved $150 I would've blown on takeout. Has anyone else had a boring plan turn into a solid win?

But what if that saved money just gets spent later anyway? I've tried those no-spend days and they just make me feel deprived... like I'm missing out on normal life. It feels like a weird self-imposed rule that doesn't actually fix the spending habit, it just delays it. The whole thing puts me in a worse mood, and then I end up buying more the next week to make up for it. That calm feeling some people get just feels like boredom to me.

That "weird calm" feeling happened to my friend when she finally organized her closet.

My cousin tried to get me to do a no-spend month last year and I totally laughed at her. Sounded like a punishment. But I gave a single weekend a shot and it was a game changer. I finally deep cleaned my apartment, cooked a huge pot of soup that lasted days, and felt weirdly calm without the constant "add to cart" impulse. It flipped a switch for me. Now I try to do one at least every couple months just to reset.
