My sister told me to try the envelope trick with cash for groceries, and I owe her an apology
My sister kept telling me to pull $300 in cash every two weeks for groceries instead of swiping my card, and I brushed her off for almost a year because who carries cash anymore. I finally tried it in March and somehow I only spent $278 that first trip, which never happens with my card. Seeing the money leave my hand makes me put stuff back, and I've stayed under budget every two week stretch since. Now she won't stop saying "told you" every time we talk, which is fair. Does anyone else do cash envelopes, or did you find a different trick that actually sticks?
