Pro tip: I found a $47 monthly leak in my budget, but my husband thinks I'm being too strict
I was going through our bank statements last month and found we were spending $47 a month on a random subscription for a photo editing app I didn't even remember signing up for. This was after I already canceled Netflix and switched to a cheaper phone plan. When I showed my husband the savings, he said I was being too obsessive and that $47 isn't a big deal compared to our rent. He thinks the time I spend hunting down small charges could be better used elsewhere. But to me, $47 a month adds up to over $500 a year, which is a whole emergency fund contribution. We argued about it in the kitchen while a sink full of dishes sat there. Has anyone else had this fight over whether tiny cuts are worth it or if you should focus on the big stuff?

Oh I totally feel you on this! The "$47 isn't a big deal" part made me laugh because my husband said the exact same thing when I found a $35 monthly charge for some cloud storage we never used. I told him it's $420 a year and he just rolled his eyes. But honestly those small leaks add up fast, I have a whole list of little things I've cut out over the past year and it's like an extra $100 a month I didn't even miss. The dishes can wait, you're making smart moves for your family's future.

Can't believe you were paying $35 a month for cloud storage you never even used, that's wild. Did you catch it right away or was it racking up for months before you noticed?

Those $35 charges hide so well, it's scary. My buddy found a $28 monthly subscription for some app he downloaded once, ran for almost a year before he saw it. The bank statement was brutal when he added it up. Small stuff like that sneaks past you until you actually look. Good on you for catching it.
