TIL a lot of people confuse "budget" with "bargain hunting"
I keep seeing folks online bragging about scoring a $5 shirt at a thrift store, but then they turn around and spend $200 on takeout that month. It took me about 3 years of tracking every dollar in my own spreadsheet to realize that saving on one thing doesn't matter if you blow it somewhere else.

Ha yeah tracking every dollar is brutal but real. I tried that for a month last year and ended up crying over a $6 latte because it messed up my whole budget vibe for the week. Now I just eyeball it and hope for the best. My spreadsheet is probably laughing at me in a dark corner of my laptop.

Tracking every dollar is the only way to see where it really goes.

Oh man I read somewhere that most people spend like 30% more on takeout than they think they do.
