Unpopular opinion: I think the 'no-spend month' trend is a bad way to build a budget win.

I saw my savings drop by $200 last month because I cut out all 'fun' spending, which just made me binge-buy a bunch of stuff I didn't need the first week of this month... has anyone else found that strict rules backfire for them?

Ever try a "low-spend" week instead? I found that giving myself a small, set amount for fun stuff each week kept me from feeling deprived and blowing it all later.

Oh, I used to think strict budgets were the only way. But setting aside a little "fun money" each week actually stopped me from overspending on bigger, dumber stuff later. It's a smarter kind of discipline.

Right? Who else totally binges after being too strict?
