Warning: I thought the 'no spend month' trend was just for show-offs

My sister talked me into trying it in April, and I ended up with an extra $275 in my account without feeling deprived. I'm still not a fan of the online bragging, but the actual practice works. Anyone have a good way to handle it without all the social media posts?

Actually, sharing the progress online is the whole point for a lot of people. That outside pressure from friends or followers is what builds real responsibility. Without telling anyone, it's too easy to quit when no one is watching. The social part turns a private goal into a public promise you feel you have to keep. For many, that bit of bragging is the only thing that makes the hard work feel worth it.

What's the point of doing it if you don't share the progress? The online posts are what make you stick to it because people are watching. Without that, most folks would just give up by day three.

Isn't it exhausting to feel like you need an audience just to keep going? I get wanting that outside push, but it makes me sad that we can't just do things for ourselves anymore. The pressure to perform for likes can ruin the whole point of the activity. Sometimes the quiet, private work is what actually sticks.
