My uncle's 20-minute rule for tile cutting actually works

My uncle does tile work near Cleveland, and last month he told me to stop dry fitting every piece before cutting. He said to only dry fit every fifth tile and trust the chalk lines. I thought he was just being lazy, but I tried it on a 200 square foot bathroom floor and finished in 5 hours instead of my usual 9. My cuts were off on two pieces near the wall, but a little edge trim fixed it and you'd never know. Has anyone else gotten advice from a family member that sounded dumb but saved you a ton of time?

Used to think every cut needed a dry fit too, but this makes total sense honestly.
