Paid $150 for a premium laminate floor underlayment and it made zero difference

I wasted $150 on some fancy cork underlayment for my living room floor last year. The salesman said it would cut noise and feel softer, but honestly my subfloor was already flat enough. You can just use the basic $30 foam stuff and save yourself the cash. Anyone else get upsold on flooring accessories that didnt do anything?

Did the salesman actually let you test the difference before buying? I've had similar experiences where the upgrade just wasn't worth the extra cost. Sometimes you really can get by with the cheaper stuff and nobody notices.

Nah man I gotta disagree hard here @johnson.faith. That salesman let me A/B test both versions side by side and the upgrade was night and day better. Sometimes cheaping out just means you're missing the real experience even if nobody else knows.
