The warehouse fire that reset my whole tape measure rule
I was standing in the back of a framing crew in Austin back in 2016 when a spark from a grinder lit a pile of treated lumber, and watching that crew scramble taught me more in 5 minutes about job site safety than 10 years of slow mornings, so now I keep a fire extinguisher within arm's reach at all times, has anyone else had a close call that rewired their whole routine?

Austin in 2016, that's crazy timing because I was working a condo job just north of there that same year. We had a nail gun battery explode in a dumpster full of drywall scraps, and the whole thing went up like a torch in about 20 seconds flat. I remember the foreman just stood there with his coffee, staring at it, until one of the new guys grabbed a water hose and made it 10 times worse. That was the day I started checking every single battery for cracks before I even plugged it in, and I still don't trust the cheap ones no matter what anyone says. Fire extinguisher now sits in my truck bed, not in the tool box, because I learned that lesson the hard way too.
