Tuesday's advice about my scaffold level paid off today

A foreman on the Tulsa job told me last week to quit eyeballing the bubble and use a string line on long runs, so I tried it on a 40-foot stretch this morning and the mortar bed came out dead flat, anyone else find string lines worth the extra setup time?

Long runs is where the bubble gets sketchy, I get it. But you got a dead flat bed on the first try? That makes me wonder if you just got lucky with the mix and the mud wasn't too stiff. String lines are a pain when you're working solo and have to keep walking back to check every few feet.
