Lost a whole month of spreads when my cat spilled coffee on my journal
Last Tuesday morning in my kitchen in Austin, my cat knocked over my mug right onto my open weekly spread. The ink bled through about 12 pages, so I had to tear out that section and rebuild it. I spent that evening redrawing the month calendar on fresh paper, and honestly the new version has clearer space for my habit tracker. Has anyone else had to rescue a journal from a pet or drink disaster, and what did you do to keep it from happening again?

My cat did the exact same thing back in March, except it was orange juice and it hit my whole week at once. I ended up buying one of those hard plastic clipboard cases from an office supply store, the kind with the clip on top, and now my journal lives in that whenever I'm not actively writing in it. I also started keeping a coaster on the far edge of the table, like a little barrier between the mug and the notebook, which sounds dumb but actually works. The bleeding thing is the worst, I feel you on tearing out pages, but at least you got to redo your habit tracker, sometimes a forced restart makes you see better layout options. Just make it a rule that liquid and journal never touch the same surface without a hard cover in between.
