My friend said her bullet journal was 'too messy' to post online
She showed me her notebook last week, and it was full of scribbled-out tasks and notes from her job at the library. I told her I liked seeing the real process, not just the perfect spreads. It made me think we focus too much on the pretty pictures. Has anyone else felt pressure to make their journal look perfect for Instagram?

What's the point of a bullet journal if it's not a little chaotic? My own planner looks like a toddler with a crayon got to it after a long day. The whole "Instagram ready" thing is just setting people up to feel bad about their normal, useful mess. If your notes are too clean, you're probably not doing enough real work.

Forget the perfect pics, show the scribbles. That's the real stuff.

Exactly. The polished final product is just a trophy on the shelf. The real story is in the crossed-out lines and coffee stains on the early drafts. Show me the sketchbook page with three terrible ideas before the good one. Let's see the code full of errors before it finally ran. That messy middle part is where all the actual work and learning happens.
