Three month streak of daily spreads finally broke when my dog ate my notebook
I was sitting at my kitchen table in Nashville last Tuesday morning, coffee in hand, ready to set up my weekly log. My golden retriever puppy grabbed my Leuchtturm off the counter and tore out about 15 pages including my future log for the next two months. I freaked out for a solid 10 minutes, then I grabbed a new notebook and just started fresh with a simple monthly overview instead of trying to salvage the wreckage. Honestly, the new spread is way cleaner because I kept it minimal without all those extra collections I never used. Has anyone else had to suddenly restart their whole journal after a disaster like this?

Oh man, that is brutal! My cat knocked my entire BuJo into the bathtub once, everything was soaked and ruined. I was so mad I just quit for a week. What finally helped me get back on track was keeping it super bare bones like you did. I only put in the month and a task list for the first week. It felt wrong at first but then I realized I was spending too much time decorating before. Less really is more when you lose everything and have to start over. My new system is way easier to keep up with.

Cat-tastrophy indeed. My dog ate the corner of my BuJo once and I just sat there staring at the soggy cardboard for ten minutes trying to decide if I should cry or laugh. Ended up using that ruined notebook as scrap paper and starting fresh with just a plain list and a calendar. Decorating goes out the window when your bullet journal doubles as a chew toy.

Five years ago I woulda said you were crazy for ditching all the decoration. But honestly after seeing my own BuJo get destroyed by coffee spill last month I spent way too much time rebuilding the pretty pages and burned out in two weeks. Now I just use a simple list and calendar like you said and its way easier to stick with. You ever find yourself adding more pages back in over time or are you keeping it this simple permanent like?
