TIL I was doing my weekly spreads all wrong for like 2 years

I used to draw out every single day of the week in my bullet journal on Sunday nights, boxes and all, and it took forever. Then last month my buddy glanced at my setup and said "why are you pre-drawing days you havent even lived yet?" and it just clicked that I was overcomplicating the whole rapid logging thing. Has anyone else had that moment where you realized you were making way more work for yourself?

Totally changed my mind actually, used to pre-draw everything too.

Had a buddy who'd plan every brushstroke then just gave up and started splashing paint around and it worked better.

It's interesting you say "just gave up" but I wonder if your buddy actually found a different kind of control by letting go. Splashing paint still requires knowing when to stop.
