Update: my coworker said my bullet journal looked 'like a second job'
I mean, I was just trying to track my water intake and work projects, but it made me think maybe I'm adding too much detail. How do you keep yours from feeling like extra work?

Totally get that. I switched to a super basic weekly spread, just three tasks a day and a water tracker. The fancy layouts were killing me. Now it takes five minutes and actually gets used.

Ugh, yes. I went down that rabbit hole last year. Bought all the stencils and washi tape. Spent more time decorating the page than doing the things on it. My January planner looked like a scrapbook. By February it was a blank, guilty void.

My washi tape collection is basically a museum exhibit at this point. I think the highlight was spending 45 minutes on a perfect February header, then missing a dentist appointment that same week.
