A teenage kid at a stoplight made me rethink my whole commute
I was sitting at a red light on Broad Street last Tuesday, griping in my head about the 15 minute delay, when a kid on a bike pulled up next to me and said "at least you're not walking." It hit me hard how much I take my car for granted even when traffic is bad. Has anyone else had a random stranger totally reframe their commute?

Have you ever wondered if that kid was actually trying to tell you something bigger about how we all get around? I remember being young and riding my bike everywhere because my family couldn't afford a car, and kids like that learn early to see the good in their situation. It's kind of wild how someone stuck on a bike can have more peace than us in our metal boxes. Maybe he was just being nice, but it got me thinking about how we're all racing around ignoring the fact that some people would kill to be in a traffic jam. I've started trying to remember that when I'm stuck, there's always someone who has it worse, even if they're breathing exhaust fumes next to me.

It's funny how we spend our whole lives trying to move faster but never actually get anywhere.
