Left my sunroof open during a thunderstorm in Arlington

Came back from lunch last Wednesday to find my driver's seat soaked through and water dripping from the dome light. I spent the next hour with a shop vac and a towel trying to dry out the carpet before the musty smell set in. Has anyone else had to deal with electrical gremlins after a leak like that?

Oh man, that's rough! My friend Jenna had this exact thing happen in her Honda Civic after a freak storm in Plano - she thought she'd dried everything out but three weeks later her power locks started going haywire, like locking and unlocking by themselves at 2am. Turned out there was still moisture trapped in the door control module, the one behind the kick panel, and it cost her like $400 at the dealership to replace it. She said the fix was pulling the carpet up all the way to the padding underneath and sticking a box fan in there for two full days, but even then she had to replace her floor mats because they just never smelled right again.

Man that really stinks, I feel for you. Left my passenger window cracked once during an overnight storm in Dallas and came out to a swimming pool in the floorboard. Took forever to get that smell out, had to rent a steam cleaner and everything. For the electrical stuff you might want to check your fuse box under the dash for any water marks or rust. Sometimes the water sits in the channels and works its way down to the connectors under the seats too. Hopefully you caught it fast enough but if the carpet padding got soaked that's where the real trouble starts. Might be worth pulling the seat and getting a dehumidifier in there for a couple days if you can.
