My GPS sent me down a dirt road that turned into a hiking trail
I was trying to avoid a 15 minute backup on Route 9 yesterday near Springfield, and my GPS said 'turn right for faster route.' That 'road' quickly turned into a dirt path with a gate at the end and I had to back up a quarter mile with rocks scraping my bumper. Has anyone else had a GPS route that was Completely wrong or just trying to kill your car?

Laughing at this because I had almost the exact same thing happen but the GPS sent me down a logging road that dead ended at a creek crossing. What gets me is that these apps don't have a way to report a road that's literally not a road anymore, you know? The mapping companies just buy data from whoever and never actually check if a road still exists or if it's been washed out for years. I've started keeping a screenshot of my GPS routes just so if something like this happens I can send it to the local DOT and maybe they'll flag it for the app companies. It's annoying because you end up wasting 20 minutes plus the stress of wondering if you're gonna bottom out.

Actually, most GPS apps do have a road report feature, it's just buried in settings.
