My uncle swore by the 'slingshot method' for merging onto the highway. I thought he was nuts.
He told me to aim my car at the gap between two trucks and just go for it without looking back. First time I tried it on I-75 in Atlanta, my engine stalled for a second and I thought I was toast. But the trucks actually slowed down a bit and let me in, no honking or anything. Has anyone else been given merging advice that actually worked against all common sense?

That "aim for the gap" trick works because truckers actually pay attention and would rather let you in than hit you.

Man I used to think that was insane too, but after trying it a few times on my commute I completely changed my mind. Truckers really do pay way more attention than regular drivers.
