Spent $40 on a sunshade for my windshield and it's the best money I've spent this summer

I drive a 2015 Civic and the dashboard was starting to crack from the heat. Picked up one of those reflective fold-up ones at AutoZone for $40. Took me three tries to find one that actually fit my windshield without flopping down but now my car is easily 20 degrees cooler when I get in after work. Also my phone mount stopped falling off the vent when the glue melted. Has anyone else found a cheap fix that saved their interior?

Did you try pairing it with a tinted visor strip too?

Got one of those too, but I accidentally bought the wrong size (because who actually measures their windshield?) so now it just kind of wedges itself in there like a sad origami project. Still works though, better than nothing

Hey @wadem89, did you try the tinted visor strip thing? I diy'd my own sunshade by cutting up one of those emergency reflective blankets and taping it to a piece of cardboard. Cost me like $3 and fits my 2012 Corolla perfectly. Took a few tries to get the shape right but now it stays put with the visors holding it in place. The cardboard is getting a little floppy after two summers but still works way better than those cheap flimsy ones. My dash was starting to look like a dried up riverbed too and this stopped it from getting worse. Definitely beats spending $40 on a fancy one that might not even fit right.
